I have tried several time to link my iPhone5s with my 2013 Highlander’s bluetooth device. It will not upload my contacts or receive text messages which my old Nokia phone was able to do. I have tried the Apple instructions for setting up my phone with the bluetooth, but was unsuccessful. I even had the salesperson at Toyota try to help, but we gave up. Any tips for what else to try?

        Hey Elizabeth,

Problems connecting iPhones to cars via Bluetooth are difficult to diagnose due to the multiple variations of software built into cars. Sometimes, resetting the network settings on your iPhone can give your iPhone a “fresh start” and allow it to connect to Bluetooth devices that had been problematic. Go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings to give it a try. Reset Network Settings erases all the Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth devices currently set up on your iPhone, but it can fix issues like the one you’re having. It might be a good idea to reset the software on your car, too.

Thanks again for your question and all the best,
        David P.
