The Coronavirus Ribbon

The Coronavirus Ribbon is two-sided, and there are two versions: one with text, and one without. One side of the ribbon is pure white, and the other side is a rainbow. We’ll explain the meaning behind both sides of the COVID-19 ribbon later in this article.

The Meaning Behind The Colors

The White Side

The white side of the Coronavirus Ribbon represents support for the courageous, talented medical professionals who persevere through extremely difficult times. We pay tribute to those who risk their own health and well-being to protect the health of others, and who work as our first — and last line of defense against the spread of the Coronavirus and COVID-19.

The white ribbon has become increasingly used to honor healthcare workers before, particularly in Utah and Michigan. More and more, we’re seeing people cheer from their balconies and porches as healthcare professionals head out for another shift.

We encourage you to join us in taking a moment each day to think of and honor the incredible work being done by healthcare professionals. This includes the doctors, nurses, administrators, custodial staff, and everyone else working around the clock to ensure our hospitals can treat as many people as possible.

The Rainbow Side

The rainbow side of the Coronavirus Ribbon represents the hope that lies “at the end of the rainbow.” This too shall pass. It also represents the unity of a virus that doesn’t acknowledge the boundaries of race, religion, our nationality. The world comes together in times of crisis, and our thoughts and prayers are with all around the world who are dealing with COVID-19. Together, we will get through this crisis.

And there is a lot to be optimistic about. The implementation of social distancing policies has done a lot to stop the spread of COVID-19. Medical professionals in states like California and Kansas are cautiously optimistic that social distancing and self-quarantining prevented a massive surge in Coronavirus cases.

We’ve seen world leaders come together and collaborate on solutions to this crisis. Medical professionals are traveling across the globe to help others in need.

People from all backgrounds are creating homemade masks to help hospital workers stay safe as they treat patients. Local communities are creating mutual aid programs to connect neighbors in need. Millions of dollars are being raised for charities that benefit those most affected by coronavirus.

Sharing the coronavirus ribbon helps raise awareness of this disease and reminds others to follow the Center For Disease Control’s COVID-19 guidelines. Stay at home as much as you can. If you absolutely need to go out in public, maintain six feet of distance between yourself and others. Wash your hands frequently. Avoid touching your face and hair.

When at home, it’s important to clean and disinfect the things you touch most often. This includes your phone, TV remote, computer, and anything else you can think of. And, of course, don’t forget to wash your hands!

We created an educational video to teach you how to properly clean and disinfect your phone. Cell phones have 10 times more bacteria than the average toilet seat, so please remember to clean it!
